Under the patronage of the University President, the Deanship of Student Affairs holds the first forum for guidance and counseling “University Guidance and its Effective Services”

Under the patronage of His Excellency the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Hilal Al-Talhi The Deanship of Student Affairs held the first forum for guidance and counseling: “University Guidance and its Effective Services,” yesterday, Wednesday, 3/19/1445 AH, at the theater of the College of Computer Engineering and Science for female students in Al-Kharj.

The forum opened with fragrant verses from the Holy Qur’an, then a speech by His Excellency the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Issa bin Khalaf Al-Dosari, in which he welcomed the honorable attendance, and mentioned the importance of this forum, explaining that the university, through the Deanship of Student Affairs, provides a wide range of programs and services that support the educational process, which aims to In its entirety, it is concerned with paying attention to students and creating the appropriate scientific environment for them, and at the forefront comes guidance and counseling, as it is the pillar of the university’s fulfillment of its responsibilities towards its male and female students, to take them in the right direction, make the right decisions, overcome difficulties, find solutions to what they encounter, and guide them to what will help them achieve their goals. 
This was followed by an introductory speech by the head of the Deanship’s Guidance and Counseling Unit, Ms. Rima Al-Dosari, during which she explained the unit’s plans for the current academic year, and some initiatives and programmes, such as the Guidance Friend Initiative, an electronic psychosocial clinic, and the mental health promotion campaign programme.

After that, the audience watched a visual presentation about the launch of the indicative year 1445 AH and its development vision.

The forum discussed many topics, and included workshops and dialogue sessions, where the first topic was entitled: University guidance and counseling, its nature and pillars, and the nature of the complementary relationship between the pillars of academic guidance, 
While the second axis was titled: Guidance, counseling, and basic conditions in the advising process, the third axis was titled: The counseling interview, while the fourth and final axis was titled: Academic advising. 
The forum concluded with a number of recommendations, including: Paying attention to holding training courses for counselors, providing tools that help them implement the counseling interview, holding courses to raise awareness of the importance of university counseling, as well as appointing a specialized psychological counselor for each college at the university to identify the needs of male and female students and help them overcome all the difficulties and obstacles they face.
