The Deanship of Student Affairs, represented by the Guidance and Counseling Unit, organized an awareness lecture entitled "Your Life is More Precious" to educate the public about the dangers of smoking and drugs. The lecture was held on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at 12:00 PM via the "Excellence" program, and was attended by a number of students and university staff.

The lecture was presented by Dr. Hanan Abdul-Razzaq Abdul-Aal, Assistant Professor of Medical-Surgical Nursing. She began by defining the scourge of smoking and its various types, highlighting key statistics related to its prevalence. She also emphasized the dangers of direct and passive smoking, particularly for children and pregnant women, and the resulting chronic diseases and serious health complications.

The lecture also addressed the dangers of drugs and their impact on physical and mental health, as well as their negative repercussions on individuals and society. Dr. Abdul-Aal stressed the importance of awareness and early prevention. She outlined practical steps for quitting smoking and the timeline for the body's recovery after cessation, explaining that the benefits of quitting begin within minutes of making the decision. The lecture concluded with several awareness messages and motivational slogans emphasizing that health is a personal responsibility and that every decision begins with a single step, under the motto:

"There's still time... Your health is in your hands."

This lecture is part of the unit's efforts to promote health awareness and build a safe and supportive university environment.
