His Excellency the President of Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University, Professor Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Tamimi, inaugurated the "First Engineering Forum for Saudi Universities" on Tuesday, April 14, 2026. The forum, organized by the university's Deanship of Student Affairs in cooperation with the College of Engineering, is being held under the theme "Engineering Links Creativity with Sustainability." It took place in the sports hall at the university campus in Al-Kharj Governorate, with the participation of 15 local universities and 14 external entities.
The two-day forum aims to create a competitive environment for engineering innovation and promote a culture of sustainability among students and specialists. The first day featured the "Sustainable Building Solutions Hackathon," where participating teams showcased their technological innovations aimed at developing pioneering engineering solutions that comply with environmental and sustainability standards. His Excellency also inaugurated the Emerging Technologies in Sustainable Building Exhibition, which included participation from major sponsoring companies to highlight future technological trends and engineering solutions. The event also witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement between the university's College of Engineering and the manufacturing company "Elegance Cabinet." In activation of the strategic partnership between the academic and industrial sectors.
The first day's activities included specialized dialogue sessions with the participation of a select group of speakers from various engineering disciplines. Held at the university theater, these sessions addressed the topics of "Renewable Energy in Construction Projects" and "Waste Management and Recycling in the Engineering Sector." The aim was to transfer scientific expertise and bridge the gap between academic outputs and labor market demands, in line with the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030.
The forum continues its activities tomorrow, Wednesday, with a series of high-quality events, including a "Bridge Design Competition," several workshops and scientific meetings discussing the applications of artificial intelligence in construction quality, culminating in a closing ceremony where the results will be announced and the winning teams and participants in the various engineering competitions and hackathons will be honored.
