The Deanship of Student Affairs, represented by the Guidance and Counseling Unit, in cooperation with the College of Applied Sciences and the College of Science and Humanities in Al-Aflaj, organized a lecture this evening, Monday, June 10, 1447 AH, entitled “Self-Preservation,” presented by Dr. Abdulmajeed Al-Khur’an.
The lecture addressed several key topics, most notably:
- An introduction to the human soul, its characteristics, and its fluctuations.
- Types of souls as described in Islamic and psychological sources.
- How to deal with, refine, and develop the soul.
- The reasons for the soul's salvation, righteousness, and preservation, and ways to strengthen it through faith and good deeds.
- The causes of the soul's misery and the temptations, whispers, and weaknesses it faces.
- Methods for dealing with life's pressures and managing daily challenges with awareness and balance.
- How to deal with the soul in relation to religious obligations and prohibitions, and ways to strengthen submission and obedience.
- Managing one's own thoughts about the future, overcoming anxiety and obsessive thoughts, and adopting a realistic and optimistic outlook.
- Inspiring examples of righteous individuals who dealt with their own souls through patience, perseverance, and continuous self-improvement.
This lecture is part of a series of programs organized by the Deanship of Student Affairs aimed at supporting mental health, enhancing self-awareness, and building a balanced personality capable of facing life's challenges.
