<p>The Deanship of Student Affairs, represented by the Guidance and Counseling Unit, held an awareness seminar the day before yesterday, Sunday, 8/29/1445 AH, entitled: “Addiction: Neurological and Behavioral Effects and Causing Factors,” at the theater of the College of Sciences and Humanities in Al Kharj.<br>
The symposium was presented by Dr. Sarah Fatani, Assistant Professor at the College of Medicine, during which she discussed the definition of addiction, its spread, and the effects on the individual and society, and then addressed the difficulties and challenges facing the addict, the reasons for the effect of narcotic substances on the brain and not others, and the interaction of the mind and nervous system with narcotic drugs. And the accompanying changes. At the conclusion of the symposium, I mentioned the importance of spreading awareness in society about the dangers of addiction, correcting some misconceptions about it, and the necessity of raising awareness among members of society to eliminate it.<br>
This awareness symposium was part of the programs of the “Together for a Conscious Society” campaign launched by the Deanship of Student Affairs.</p>
