On Thursday, May 22, 1447 AH (corresponding to May 22, 2020), the Deanship of Student Affairs at Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University organized a remote lecture entitled: “Nutrition and Awareness in Lung Cancer Prevention,” in cooperation with the College of Applied Medical Sciences in Wadi Al-Dawasir.
The lecture was presented by Dr. Sahar Abdulmohsen, Associate Professor of Medical-Surgical Nursing, who addressed the following topics in an accessible scientific manner:
- Definition of lung cancer, its main causes, and risk factors.
- Highlighting the vital role of proper nutrition in preventing this disease and supporting overall respiratory health.
- Enhancing awareness of the importance of nutrition in strengthening the immune system and combating carcinogens, especially those resulting from environmental pollution and unhealthy lifestyles.
- Raising awareness of the dangers of lung cancer, emphasizing the necessity of quitting smoking and adopting a healthy lifestyle.
- Correcting common misconceptions about food and health, and encouraging healthy nutritional practices in the community.
- Integrating with the efforts of the university's Nutrition Unit. To promote community health and raise awareness of health and nutrition in the long term.
Through these events, the Deanship aims to instill a culture of prevention and healthy habits among university members and the surrounding community.
