On Tuesday, 5/21/1445 AH, the Deanship of Student Affairs held the second guidance forum, entitled “Managing Academic Stress,” at the University City Theater.
The forum began with a speech by His Excellency the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Issa bin Khalaf Al-Dosari, in which he welcomed the honorable audience and stated: Pressure is the starting point for many problems facing male and female students, such as pessimism, despair, and fear of failure, which causes them frustration and psychological pressures that may reflect negatively on their educational and professional careers. Accordingly, we were keen for this forum to work on creating the appropriate environment for them and removing the obstacles they face. And finding solutions that contribute to their success and excellence.
After that, the forum addressed several topics. In the first topic, “Managing Academic Stress,” its definition, what it means, and the reason for the emergence of pressure were discussed. It concluded by mentioning some of the studies conducted on students. The second topic was titled “Time Management,” in which it discussed how to exploit and organize it. And knowing how to set priorities, and the ability to plan properly to achieve goals, while the third axis was titled “Mnemonic Techniques,” and the fourth axis was titled “Test Anxiety.” After that, a workshop was held entitled: “Strategies for Dealing with Test Anxiety.”
The forum included an exhibition accompanying the Guidance and Counseling Unit of the Deanship of Student Affairs, which contained publications and advice on correct study methods for university students. It also included an introduction to the services provided to them by the unit, such as the virtual electronic psychosocial clinic service, and educational and social consultations through the counseling phone.
