The Deanship of Student Affairs, represented by the Guidance and Counseling Unit, held a remote awareness lecture entitled “Depression: Its causes, factors, and treatment methods.” The lecture aimed to spread awareness about depression, and introduce students to its symptoms, causes, and methods of treatment and prevention.
The lecture was presented by Professor Lama Hababi, a lecturer in the Department of Psychology at the College of Education, where she provided a comprehensive explanation of depression and talked about its various symptoms. She also discussed the factors that may lead to depression and provided advice for preventing this disease, such as exercising regularly and eating Eat healthy, get enough sleep, and maintain positive social relationships.
Professor Lama touched on methods of treating depression, which include psychotherapy and drug therapy, and stressed the importance of seeking help from a psychologist if you feel any of the symptoms of depression.
The lecture received great interest from the students, as they interacted with the lecturer and asked many questions about depression and methods of treating it.
This lecture comes within the programs of the “Together for a Conscious Society” campaign launched by the Deanship of Student Affairs.
